The Last Few Days

The last few days have been nice. Patrick took Wednesday off and we had to go to a funeral for a neighbor of his parents. It was a nice funeral with lots of people. The whole church was full at our Lady of Perpetual Help. After the luncheon reception we went home and took naps. Later we went grocery shopping and I made chicken fajitas for dinner.
On Thursday, we went to Cosco and a couple of used book stores. I was looking for some books from a couple of different series that I have been reading. I didn't find any of the books I was looking for but did find a gardening book that looks like it should be really useful. I can't wait to get to work in the garden. I cleared out my vegetable boxes on the last sunny day we had but it has just been too wet and cold to do anything else. In the afternoon Connor helped me make shortcakes. After we got home from swimming in the evening, we had strawberry short cakes with lots of whipped cream and strawberries. They were delicious!
This morning we dropped off some clothes at the consignment store then stopped by SMM school to see Gramma Simmons but the teachers had a retreat day so she wasn't there. We did meet up with her and Josh for lunch after we went to Half Priced Books (I still didn't find my books). Connor was able to convince Gramma that we needed to go to the pet store after lunch. Connor and Laura love the pet store. They get so excited looking at all the different animals. Connor's favorite animals were the ferrets. Laura liked watching the dwarf hamsters that were running back and forth in the cage. She kept trying to touch it and then would squeal because she thought it was so funny.
The kids sure like when Daddy is home; especially when he has a three day weekend.
